The best birthday of my life. 🪄🧙🏼‍♀️🎉

During our first trip to London, we planned a visit to the Harry Potter Studio Tour so this super fan could celebrate her birthday in a place I have always dreamed of seeing!

And let me tell you, it lived up to the hype AND MORE.

If you’re planning a visit to see this famous studio, here are some things you need to know, tips for your visit, and how to make the most of your time there.

🎟️ Buying your tickets

When visiting the Harry Potter Studio Tour you’ll need to purchase a ticket ahead of time for a timed entry on specific day. Standard tickets start at €56 per person.

These tickets can sell out, so it’s best to book as far in advance as possible!

At this time of writing this article (June 2026) the calendar for tickets is open throughout the rest of 2025, so you could book months in advance of your visit.

⏰We chose the earliest time slot of the day for our visit which I highly recommend. That way we could get into the studio and check in a bit before the first tour begun, and we had time to even have breakfast there before our tour time!

They also offer various packages that include things like dinner, transportation, hotel, afternoon tea, etc. We purchased a standard ticket and organized our own transport and meals, which worked out perfectly for us.

🚊 Getting there

London is probably the easiest major city to navigate thanks to their amazing public transit system, and getting to the studio tour was no different!

The studio is a little ways outside the city, so it took us about an hour to get there from the city center.

Here’s how we got there:

1️⃣ Take the nearest tube to Euston Station.

2️⃣ Take the overground train from Euston Station to Watford Junction.

3️⃣ Take the free WB Studio Tour shuttle directly to the studio (this shuttle ride is included with your ticket).

Once you arrive at Watford Junction, there are Harry Potter signs everywhere to point you in the right direction, so don’t worry about getting lost! You’ll meet a WB Studio staff member that will check your ticket before boarding the shuttle bus.

🌟 The experience

We arrived at the studio about an hour before our tour and we were able to check in pretty quickly after arriving so we could enter the studio. And we were in awe from the moment we walked in. 🤩

Everything was beautifully themed, there were interactive spots to learn more about the films, and even a store with all the Harry Potter merchandise you could ever want.

🎂 Birthday tip: If you’re there celebrating a birthday, don’t forget to get your free birthday buttons at the front desk!

Our first priority was to find a quick breakfast in the cafe before started our tour! We knew that it could take about 3-4 hours to go through the entire experience. We were there for about 6….I wanted to see every little detail!

Keegan had a traditional English breakfast plate and I opted for a breakfast sandwich. Both were good!

After that, we got in line so we could be one of the first to enter the tour. You are able to walk around at your own pace and they don’t have a time limit for how long you can spend exploring the sets.

The grand entrance to the tour opens up into the Great Hall and it looks exactly as it does in the movies! You’ll also find recreations of classrooms, the Gryffindor common room, the Forbidden Forest, and Platform 9 3/4. As you move through sets and recreations indoors, you’ll find so many ways to dive into the magical world of Harry Potter! They had a green screen flying experience, a photo booth for a “wanted” sign, a magical broom, and SO MUCH MORE.

About half way through, you’ll find a great place to stop for a break outside. They had a cafe and Butterbeer station midway through the experience so you could grab a bite to eat, sip on some Butterbeer, and explore some amazing sets outside! Like a model of The Burrow, the Flying Ford Anglia, the Knight Bus, and you could walk through the Dursley’s house on Privet Drive!

🍽️ The food

Since you could end up spending a very long day there, it’s a good thing they have plenty of food options!

You’ll find a small cafe near the entrance of the studio. They also had a Marauders Map style cafeteria where you could get breakfast in the morning and lunch food later in the day (this is where we got out lunch and it was delicious).

They also had a dessert shop shaped like a Chocolate Frog box and all the desserts were themed so well! It was hard not to order them all. 🍫🐸

Final thoughts

It is an understatement to say that I was excited to finally get to experience the Harry Potter Studio Tour, and it far exceeded my expectations.

From the moment you walk in the door, you are immersed in the Harry Potter universe. The sets and recreations were executed perfectly, the interactive experiences kept you entertained for hours, and the food was quite good too!

It was well worth the ticket price and I would absolutely recommend going if you find yourself in London!
