What’s changing?
Okay, Hyatt fans, we’ve got to talk….
Starting October 1, 2026, Chase is shaking up one of our favorite transfer partnerships. 🫣 If you've got a Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card or Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card, your points will now move to World of Hyatt at a 4:3 ratio instead of the sweet, simple 1:1 we've all been spoiled by.
Translation: that 30,000 point Hyatt stay you've been eyeing will now cost 40,000 Chase points with this reduced transfer rate. Ouch. ‼️But before you panic transfer your entire balance, let's break down what this really means for you and how to make the most of the time you've got left.
How to switch up your strategy
Moving forward, if you want to keep your 1:1 transfer ratio to Hyatt, you’ll need one of two premium credit cards Chase offers.
Option 1: Option 2: Sapphire Reserve for Business℠
OR, if you are earning points with a player 2 (like a spouse, family member, etc.), that person could also hold one of these cards, and then that person would be the one to transfer points out to Hyatt for bookings.
⭐️ My strategy? My husband has the Chase Sapphire Reserve®, so I will transfer my Chase points to his account, then he can transfer points to Hyatt at a 1:1 ratio for us. He can even send the points from his Hyatt account to my Hyatt account for free so I can continue to manage those bookings!
Bottom line
While this is a sad change, this is definitely not a cause for panic. There are still a couple of avenues to maintaining that 1:1 Hyatt transfer ratio, AND still a huge list of other transfer partners from Chase bank!
➡️ I don’t recommending transferring all your points to Hyatt before the change, unless you have a hotel you’re ready to book. You don’t want to end up with stranded points!
So let me know, what Hyatt hotel are you booking next? 🏨👏🏻
